Hallmark Home Health closely monitors the evolving situation regarding the COVID-19 virus and the CDC recommendations for prevention of spreading the virus. Since the population we serve are at greater risk for the most serious impacts of this new virus, we have implemented precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of our patients, their family members, and our staff.
- Based upon recommendations of CDC and CMS, we provide education to staff, patients, and their families according to the CDC.
- For new admissions, staff are required to determine if patients have been exposed to anyone known to have COVID-19 or has recently been to any areas with ongoing spread of COVID-19. Proper precautions are taken based on the responses. COVID-19 information is provided to all patients upon admission.
- Staff follow the guidelines published by the CDC regarding whether or not to wear a mask when providing in-home care for patients.
- All staff are expected to report symptoms associated with COVID-19, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, runny nose, or achiness, to their supervisor and should stay home if they are ill or symptomatic. No staff member with symptoms is allowed to work and no staff member who is COVID-19 positive but is asymptomatic is allowed to work.
- We require each employee to follow strict guidelines and procedures regarding the use, cleaning, and management of equipment. They must also adhere to specific procedures related to hand-washing and other aspects of safety. We provide in-service education to ensure understanding and adherence to policies and procedures.
- When scheduling home visits, we require staff to ask patients if they or anyone else at their residence is experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, or achiness. Proper precautions are taken based on responses to these questions.
Protect yourself and others
The following information was accessed (1/21/24) and is available on the CDC website.
Current COVID-19 vaccines are expected to increase protection against JN.1, as they do against other variants, by helping prevent severe illness. The following actions can help protect you and your loved ones against severe COVID-19:
- Get your updated COVID-19 vaccine.
- Test if you develop respiratory symptoms or are exposed to someone who has COVID-19.
- Talk to a healthcare provider about treatment if you test positive and are at higher risk for severe COVID-19.
- Help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
- Improving your indoor air quality is one of the best ways to prevent spread. This can be as simple as using a portable air cleaner or opening windows (for those with pleasant winter weather). And if your home thermostat offers a FAN option, turn it from AUTO to ON when you have visitors to keep air running continuously.
Our goal is to always provide exceptional patient care and services, while supporting patient families, and protecting our professional staff.
