What Does Medicare Cover?

If you or your loved one has Medicare and requires home health services, it’s important to know what’s covered. Medicare.gov is the website to find valuable information on available services.

Medicare.gov provides the following information for Medicare recipients. Please check the website for updates or changes or contact us at Hallmark Home Health to help you determine what’s available based on your doctor’s recommendations.

Medicare does NOT pay for:

  • 24-hour-a-day care at home
  • Meals delivered to your home
  • Custodial or personal care (help bathing, dressing, and using the bathroom) when this is the only care you need
  • Homemaker services

Medicare covers professional nursing services, physical therapists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists for individuals who qualify. They also cover Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) services for patients who meet specific criteria and when ordered by a qualified doctor.

In addition, Medicare services may include medical supplies for use at home or durable medical equipment (DME) when prescribed by your doctor. DME may include:

  • Manual or power wheelchairs (depending on personal need as determined by your doctor)
  • Oxygen equipment
  • Walkers, canes, rollators, canes
  • Semi-electric hospital beds
  • CPAP and BiPAP therapy

It’s important to check your benefits so you know what is available to help you improve your health at home. Our Medicare experts are happy to help you evaluate your options and determine what is covered by your insurance.
